Waar gaat het echt over?/What is it really about?

Een landschap is mensenwerk. Landscape labs is artistiek mensenwerk waarbij we plekken, plaatsen, regio’s en gebieden willen verbinden door meer aan de weet te komen over de rol van de mens in zijn leefomgeving, in zijn landschap, in zijn land. Maar niet door te polariseren en verschillen te accentueren omwille van het accentueren. Maar door scripts te schrijven voor voorstellingen die echt ergens thuis horen en die te spelen in het landschap. Waar het publiek iets bekends ziet maar op een nieuwe manier getoond. Door kunstenaars uit te nodigen hun visie los te laten op het landschap. Waarbij de kunstenaar als nieuwe bewoner van een plek of streek even het luisterend oor is van de bewoners. En nieuwe kunst maakt waar geen museum is. En waar filmmakers beelden schieten die vertoond worden waar even een bioscoop is. Maar waar het geen festival is. Waar het even in ‘der lauf der dinge’ van dat landschap is.

Uiteraard speelt initiator Henry J.Alles een grote rol bij de uitvoering van de nieuwe projecten. En verzameld hij mensen per project die daar bij kunnen horen maar er ook bij willen horen. En uiteraard zal er eten bij zijn. En zullen professionals en amateurs naast elkaar werken.

En we vergeten niet een documentaire te maken. Om op tafel te kunnen leggen als er ergens anders aan een nieuw project gewerkt wordt.
Want wat is nu de situatie hier of daar? Wat is de toekomst van deze plek of dat gebied? Voor dergelijke vragen zien we juist ook uit naar de oriëntatie op vergelijkbare gebieden, in Nederland en in Europa. Natuurlijk niet alleen met het oog op samenwerking met anderen. Maar vooral om te weten te komen hoe vergelijkbare gebieden in Europa hun ontwikkeling gaan inzetten. En hoe er samenlevingen ontstaan waar mensen beseffen dat je het samen kunt doen. Wat gebeurt er wanneer je niet alles zelf in eigendom kunt hebben en je niet alle structuren zelf kunt bedenken en onderhouden. Daarin zien wij een rol voor Landscape Labs. Daar waar community art niet meer als kunst vorm op zichzelf staat maar het onderdeel wordt van een bredere behoefte aan community economy, community politics, community education, community technology.

Humans make a landscape. Landscape labs is artistic work by humans. In which we want to connect spots, places, regions and larger area’s by getting know more about the people living in their habitat, in their landscape, their country. But not by polarisation or merely accentuating differences because of accentuating itself. But by writing scripts for plays that really belong somewhere and are played in the landscape. Where the audience sees the things they know in a new light. By inviting artists to show their view on particular landscapes and let these artists be the listening ears for the inhabitants. Where these artists make new work where there is no museum. And where moviemakers shoot images and show them in temporary cinemas. Where there is no festival. But where even the artworks are just part of the ‘natural cause of things’.

The initiator Henry J.Alles will play a big part in the Landscape labs projects. And of course he invites the right people that love to be in this or that particular place. And there will be food to share as usual. And professionals and amateurs will work alongside of each other.

And let’s not forget to edit a documentary. To take with us and show when we are working at a different location because there might be a question about what is going on here or there. And what holds the future for this or that area? Because of these questions we would like to orientate on comparable places, in the Netherlands and in Europe. Not merely because of a cooperation but above all to learn how different area’s choose to develop. And hopefully to see that there are societies where people choose to cooperate. What happens when you can not own or maintain every structure that is available. We see outselves in these stories where community art is not by itself but part of a broader picture with community economics, community politics, community education and community technology.
